Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Brizzy Jumping Castles exists to give children a good time. Almost everyone who uses our equipment is a child. That puts their safety and wellbeing at the centre of every decision we make, and it places an obligation on us that we take seriously.

We do not tolerate child abuse or harm

We have zero tolerance for child abuse and harm of any kind. Not from our workers, not from our customers, and not on any site where we are working. Every allegation and every concern is taken seriously and acted on. We report to the police and to child protection authorities, and we cooperate fully with them. We do not weigh up the reputation of our business against the safety of a child.

We listen to children

Children have the right to be heard, believed and taken seriously. Our crew explain the safety rules in words children understand, ask children if they are comfortable, and stop the activity the moment a child says they want to stop. If a child tells us something is wrong, we listen, we believe them, and we act. We tell children what we are doing about it, and we ask them what would help them feel safe.

We choose our people carefully

Everyone who works for Brizzy Jumping Castles is screened before they start. Blue cards are held where they are required, and we require them for anyone attending a school, early childhood service or church site whether or not the law demands it. Every worker signs our Child Safe Code of Conduct, completes child safety training before their first job, and refreshes it every year.

We respect every child

Every child is welcome and safe with us, whatever their background, culture, ability, gender, identity or beliefs. We recognise the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to cultural safety, and we recognise that an organisation that is not culturally safe is not child safe. Racism and discrimination are not tolerated. We adjust how we work for children with disability and for children with heightened vulnerability.

We manage the risks

We assess and control the risks that come with our work: how equipment is installed and anchored, who supervises children using it, how our crew behave on site, how we handle photographs, and what happens at large events. Our risk controls are written down, followed on every job, and reviewed at least once a year.

We welcome concerns

If something about us worries you, tell us. You do not need to be certain, and you will not be brushed off. Complaints about the safety or wellbeing of a child are handled under a published, child-focused process, and no one is disadvantaged for raising one in good faith.

If you are worried about a child

You do not need permission and you do not need proof. Contact us, or go straight to the authorities.

Children and young people: this part is for you

If one of our crew, or anyone else, does something that makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or upset, you can tell us. You can tell any of our crew, or a teacher, or your parent, or any grown-up you trust. You can bring someone with you. You will not get in trouble, even if you are not sure, and even if you got it wrong.

The one thing we cannot do is keep it a secret if you or another child is not safe. We will have to tell someone whose job it is to help, and we will tell you when we do.

We review these documents at least once a year and after any incident or change in the law.
